disadvertisings media stereotyping...

Sunday, 17 July 2011

stereotype is a popular belief about specific social groups or types of individuals. and we have a stereotype that is presented by the media nowadays and because of that, people started believing it and taking it as if it is a true fact. that has alot of dangerous disadvertisings on that particular group and the society in general .

one of the stereotypes most popular and most known in America is the black african american teenagers(thugs). the rap music and the hiphop music made them look like a crule thives , and heartless murderers. you can see the movies picturing them holding guns, raping females, robing banks and selling drugs.  this might be true for a small group of african american poor teenagers but a small group of people should not present the rest.

because of the stereotyping these teenagers may not have a good chance for a proper education cause even the teachers think it useless to teach them cause they will end up being thugs and gangsters. they don't have a good chance to get a proper jop and they have no chance to leave the hood they were raced in to go some where else and find a better life because they know if they did go out the world wont except them and the world wont believe in them and give them a chance to be a better people. and because of this stereotyping these kids mostly ends like the rest and they spend the rest of their life either dealing drugs or in Gail and all of this is because the world believed what the media is presenting and they judged them and left them for their death penalty.

so media stereotyping and media in general can be a really strong but dangerous wepon , so we should use it wisely.

I love it. it is just the thing i would love to sit and talk with some people who keep thinking that. these bad people are only a few. we are not say they are not exist, and they are exist every where in any society.but my point is every society have bad side and good side but we can not look or count and juge only on the bad side.

Exactly Laila, like what you said.
The problem in stereotype that it gives sometimes wrong pictures about cretin groups of people which are quite well accepted by the audience as the truth!!

I really dont agree i mean this kind of streotype did exists but i guess it disappeared now! no one think of black people or Africans as the bad people anymore even tho there is a big percentage of crimes within them!
but theres just so much successful icons in the world now who are african biggest example: Barak Obama president of the united states or in the media Will Smith (actor)
Africans or black people are not an obvious victim of media streotypes anymore
