Internet & Truth

We agree all that Internet is a very huge source of information; however, it can’t be trustful in all cases. Internet is not always a source of truth. In the internet world, everyone can write, post, publish and comment regardless of their knowledge and their beliefs. So, definitely it can’t be always trustful. At the same time, anyone can sometimes edit some published information just according to his ideology and belief. It sounds strange, yet this is one of the disadvantages of Internet since that freedom is the cornerstone of the Internet. For instance, we notice sometimes a lot of fake information and news on some websites. We notice regularly many of rumors around the world. So, we can’t say that internet is believable always.

Therefore, we should make sure of anything that we read or see before we believe in. For example, we should check more than two website to come up with a trustful information or news.

The Differences Between Journalists and Bloggers

The Differences between Journalists and Bloggers

1.     Blogging originally something personal:
The main concept of blogging is to write personal daily events in a form of a website. Then this concept was developed to be more than one type. The common type is the personal electronic space to express the personal opinions.

2.     Journalist conveys news and blogger comments on it:
In journalism, the journalist doesn’t have to write his opinion; he only conveys the news as it is with a very natural form or according to the newspapers or the media policy. On the other hand, the blogger only writes his personal opinion about the news or the different issues.

3.     Academic journalism is a prerequisite for a journalist:
To be a blogger, you don’t have to be an academic journalist and as blogging is for all. It doesn’t depend how much knowledge you have; yet, it depends on his general information and his way of thinking.
Yet the journalist has some journalistic skills such as writing a reports, doing interviews and so on. So, to be a real journalist, you have to have an academic certificate in journalism.

4.      Blogger is not a journalist, which is not a doctor, too:
Let’s say, a person has had an ill, and he was cured. Then he decided to create a blog to write his experience with the ill, and to share how he could be cured by sharing the causes of the ill, and the medicine he took. Are we going to call this person as a doctor? Defiantly not right. This also goes to any blogger who writes on political and social issues.

5.      How the blogger publishes, and how the journalist publishes:
The blogger always writes immediately; yet, the journalist has to open his report with an introduction and end it with a conclusion.
The blogger doesn’t care about the title too much as he cares about the content. However, the journalist may take too much time to choose his title more than writing the content.
The blogger is and editor for himself; yet, the journalist must obey his editor’s laws and rules.
The blogger can publish in any time; yet, the journalist must publish in cretin times.

Stereotypes & Propaganda

Stereotypes & Propaganda

Stereotypes are considered as a very important component in the media, especially in propaganda. Stereotype is defined as “ a fixed conventional nation or conception of an individual or group of people, held by a number of people”.

Stereotypes often misrepresent wrong and bad pictures about cretin conceptions or groups of people. Because of its strong influence, stereotype can work when used in propaganda tactics. Hence, every group or community surly will use it to support and spread its ideologies and believes regardless of its negativity or positivity. That’s because, what is negative to this group of people, it’s not necessary to have the same conception to another group. Sometimes it’s completely opposite.

However, still there are many concepts that all the people have the same opinion on it either negatively or positively. Therefore, in general, stereotype isn’t necessarily always a negative phenomenon. Propaganda use of stereotype can sometimes give motivation to learn about something beneficial.

“Propaganda is a force which can influence and affect everyone; bringing changes in behavior, attitudes and ones beliefs
“Media impacts its viewers modifying their judgments based on the information, which they receive. Substantial amounts of stereotypes broadcasted through propaganda have similar effects”

Here is one of the examples that are affecting young children by stereotypes. It’s Simpsons TV show. The Characters in this show such as Apu are highly discriminated and stereotyped.

On this show Apu is characterized as an Indian immigrant, who prays to Ganesh, and holds a highly noticeable and dissimilar accent. This is a stereotype, which is observed by young children and is perceived as humorous; they apply this knowledge towards those they meet in real-life. Viewers of this show believe this information to be completely accurate for they hold little or no knowledge about that particular group. Though the stereotypes shown on TV are usually misrepresented, they are quite well accepted by the audience as the truth. The viewers who watch these shows on a regular basis do not recognize the biased content, which is being presented. Media grabs the interests of their audience through comedy, drama, and action, which causes the viewers to disregard the immorality behind the content.
